After very successful meetings in Graz in 2007, Budapest in 2008 and Antalya in 2009, the European Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery rapidly evolves towards a traditional and esteemed annual event of ESTES.
In 2010, this Congress will take place in Brussels. Being capital of Belgium and Europe, this city seems very suitable to host a European meeting of trauma and emergency surgery. The totally renewed and highly modern Congress Center Square is situated in the middle of the historical part of the city. Lots of excellent hotel accommodations, restaurants, bars, museums and market places are available in walking distance. This multicultural and fascinating city will be ready to host you for three unforgettable days.
Trauma and emergency surgery have a long and respected tradition in Belgium. The Belgian surgeons Lambotte from Antwerp and Danis from Brussels are fathers of modern operative fracture care and internal fixation of broken bones. Belgium has a long-time experience with interdisciplinary emergency departments and countrywide legally organised yet regionally structured pre-hospital care.
The upcoming Congress offers you a spectrum of interesting topics covering aspects of trauma care, fracture treatment, education, surgical emergencies and disasters. The programme contains instructional lectures and panel discussions with invited speakers and opinion leaders only. Free paper sessions will be introduced and chaired by a keynote speaker. This enables direct contact between attendants and experts. Electronic posters will be presented in the form of short oral communications. Attendants will have the opportunity to look at them by a simple click in a “poster centre” with multiple laptops.
The social programme will present you the best of Belgium. Exclusive historical and political places, a magnificent natural park in Flemish Brabant to relax with typical Belgian food on the Belgian evening, day-tours to Bruges and Antwerp, half-day visits to discover different aspects of Brussels are among multiple possibilities.
