Public transportation within Brussels
The ‘Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles’ (STIB), called ‘Maatschappij voor het Intercommunaal Vervoer te Brussel’ (MIVB) in Dutch, is the main public transport operator in Brussels. Since its underground, tram and bus lines all are part of the network, the same ticket can be used when switching. As of April 2009, a new system of 6 metro lines connects all corners of the city.

Most of the lines run Monday to Sunday from 5 a.m. to midnight — please consult the timetables at the stops. Tickets are available at the various metro stations and at the STIB information offices as well as at many newsagents’. For more information, please visit www.stib.be
